That question takes me back around fifteen years.
At the time, I was tutoring a child whose parents enrolled him in a course led by R’ Klein from America, called C.V.S. – Chumash Vocabulary System. The programme was a visual flashcard language system designed to enable children to translate לשון הקודש with clarity and confidence.
R’ Klein kindly granted me permission to computerise the programme. בעזרת ה׳, over the following years it developed into a fully child-friendly system. The visuals were carefully designed to relate directly to the תלמידים (students), and many were created with their input — ensuring the material was engaging, relatable and memorable.
I will never forget the joy of this תלמיד (student) when he scored 99% on his baseline test — the comprehensive black-and-white word list given after mastering all the cards. It was the first time he had ever achieved such a high mark. That moment was transformative — for him and for me.
From there, I began receiving increasing requests to help children — and even adults — with their קריאה (reading) and הבנה (comprehension). This inspired me to expand the system into a structured programme for קריאה and הבנה, covering Chumash and Gemoroh.
Over the years, I have been זוכה (merited) to see many תלמידים — ranging from ages 6 to 18 — progress from א to ת, in their reading, translation and understanding. This has taken place both in one-to-one sessions and in group settings. I have also helped adults strengthen and refocus their קריאה skills.
Returning to that מחנך at the event, I answered him clearly:
If the system you are looking for teaches the skill of reading, translation in Chumash or Gemoroh, and true הבנה — then you have come to the right place.
While today’s world is filled with fast-paced distractions, one thing has not changed:
When you ignite someone with genuine חשק — and help them focus — they can learn.
So stop imagining the scenario.
Aleph - Firstly, take that step to חשק - to be ignited.
Refocus.
And begin.
